Out and AboutThings to do
The Old Brickyard Cottages are located in peaceful little spot right on the River Stour.
For starters, this is Bird-Watchers heaven! The mudflats, exposed as the tide ebbs away, belong to the RSPB and the whole area is a site of Special Scientific interest and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Long walks along the river take you to far off pubs, short walks to your local.
We are situated on the Shotley Peninsula, so you are ideally poised to explore the stunning Suffolk Heritage Coast if you wish, or simply kick back and enjoy your surroundings closer to your new home from home.
Some ideas for planning your break;
Wherever you live you will drive past this on the way here. Blink and you’ll miss it but it’s down a little lane in the village of Chelmondiston. Well worth a visit for a) Cracking walks in either direction from the little hamlet and b) Cracking pub! The Butt & Oyster is well known for superb food and drink and sits overlooking the River Orwell
The Suffolk Food Hall
Just as the name suggests, it is a huge hall, jam-packed with amazing goodies from all around the world, but especially from Suffolk. They bake every day and have their own butchery, as well as superb ‘farmshop’ too. There is sooo much stuff to make your break complete; we are so lucky having this wonderful ‘deli and much more’ right on our doorstep. There is a coffee shop, as well as restaurant with the most magnificent view of the River Orwell, and a fab garden centre too!
